Roraima’s hematology patients would be concerned about a lack of medicines and medical care at the state’s Hematology Clinic. The State Department of Health (Sesau) denied the lack of medicine.

In a report to FolhaBV, the patients stated that they have been experiencing several problems since being placed at the Clinic. The main ones would be the lack of medication and care.

“I have been undergoing bone marrow treatment for 12 years and with this change [de clínica] there was a lack of medication, poor service and now we have been without a hematologist for a few days,” said a patient. “They are just scheduling us for another day when there is no doctor”, she added.

When contacted, Sesau stated, in a note, that the unit is not experiencing a lack of medicines. However, the Management of the Hemotherapy and Hematology Center of Roraima (Hemoraima) reported that “it is making adjustments to the Hematology Clinic service due to the departure of a specialist who worked in the unit, which has reduced the number of professionals. Service is expected to return to normal next week.”
