Very good for us who needed it, it’s been really good because I’m a mother of five children and we needed consultation and vaccination”, this is how the housewife, Silvana Suarez Rosário, evaluates the action carried out by the Municipality of Altamira, through the Municipal Health Department (Sesma), in the community of Vale Piauiense.

The health action took place on March 6th and offered medical care, vaccination, medication delivery, a joint effort to combat dengue fever and anti-rabies vaccination.

Célia Gadelha Mendes, nursing technician, is grateful for the action carried out in the community. “We can only be grateful for the action because we have many elderly people, many children here in the community who needed to get the vaccine, who needed to complete the vaccination schedule and today they are providing this service and we are happy with this service“, he said.

The endemic disease control technician, Patrick Gaia Gomes, points out the importance of carrying out health actions in the community. “Through the action, we brought qualified health professionals as a laboratory technique to collect serology, so that we have data to work on combating and controlling dengue fever. We also brought professionals to visit homes, to visit and provide guidance, to provide health education on controlling the outbreak of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the dengue mosquito. We also offered a zoonosis service, through the anti-rabies vaccine, so it is a very beautiful and very important job”, he states.

Karina Lopes, a veterinarian at the Health Department, argues that by offering anti-rabies vaccines, animals and the population benefit. “Animal vaccination is very important for the prevention of canine rabies in our municipality, we are here with doctors also providing care to the population and many benefits. We came from the city to this community to bring vaccinations, as sometimes people don’t have the means to take their animal to the city, we are coming, we are close by. This type of vaccination is very important, we are carrying out prevention for both the population and animals”, he points out.

For farmer Giovana da Silva Gonçalves, the feeling after carrying out the action is one of gratitude. “It’s very rewarding because we don’t have to travel from here to the city, which is more difficult. And continue to take these actions to improve our community, which really needs this too”reports.

Despite the Health action, Altamira City Hall will soon inaugurate the first health post in the Vale Piauiense community, which will serve the locality permanently. The nurse and coordinator of Health Surveillance in Altamira, Flávio Santos, talks about his happiness with carrying out the action and the expectation for the opening of the health center in the locality. “We are very happy to be able to bring this action here today and see how happy people are to be receiving this action, and very soon the unit here in Vale Piauiense will also be inaugurated, where it will have continuous doctor, dentist and general services.”, he reports.
