The Health and Education Departments of Caucaia signed a partnership to expand immunization against influenza in municipal schools. Children from 6 months to under 6 years of age will be covered by the implementation of the itinerant action, which will take place from this Monday (29). The practice, which does not require prior scheduling and follows a pre-established calendar by the secretariats, aims to minimize the distance from the school community in relation to fixed vaccination points, making it easier for children to get vaccinated. The goal is for up to 10 thousand children in this age group to be vaccinated. On this occasion, professionals will also administer routine vaccines, according to each student’s vaccination card. Lorena Ferreira, Caucaia’s immunization coordinator, reinforces the need for parents to authorize immunization at school “In order to vaccinate as many children as possible, we need the full support of parents and guardians”, she requests. In addition to schools, vaccination takes place in two fixed points in the city: Grêmio de Caucaia and the 46 health posts.
