The teams from the Center for Combating Endemic Diseases of the Municipal Health Emergency Operations Center (Coems) and Tubarão Epidemiological Surveillance updated, this week, the data regarding mosquito outbreaks Aedes aegypti, responsible for the transmission of dengue. The increase in the number of outbreaks continues at a rapid pace in the municipality, and most confirmed cases of dengue were transmitted internally.

The data released reports 173 mosquito outbreaks found this year: 54 in Oficinas, 26 in the Center, 19 in Vila Esperança, 15 in Humaitá de Cima, 12 in São João Margem Esquerda, 10 in Vila Moema, eight in Humaitá, seven in Santo Antônio de Pádua, five in São Cristóvão, three in Recife, Monte Castelo and Dehon, two in São Martinho and Morrotes, and one focus each in Fábio Silva, Sertão dos Corrêa and Revoredo. In terms of notifications, there was another increase, from 380 to 431.

In relation to confirmed cases, another increase was recorded: 37 in total, against 27 last week, 16 of which were allochthonous (transmission outside the city) and another 21 autochthonous (transmission within the city). There are still 328 discarded cases, and another 66 under investigation at the moment.

As reported by the Center for Combating Endemic Diseases, community participation in the fight against mosquitoes, which transmit, in addition to dengue fever, chikungunya fever and the Zika virus, is necessary, in joint work with the municipality’s health authorities. Therefore, you should avoid keeping containers in your house, apartment or land that can store water in the open, such as cans, buckets, bottles, plant pots, pots, tires, uncovered water tanks, among others.

Check out some recommendations given by Tubarão health authorities below:

Always keep areas in general clean, such as patios and backyards, for example. Also clean the gutters, and frequently, to prevent branches and leaves from blocking the water from draining, causing it to accumulate.

Use repellents as additional protection throughout the day, as this is the period when mosquitoes are most active. This type of product provides greater safety against insect bites. In time, insecticides can also be used, always in accordance with their respective instructions. Mosquito nets can serve as protection for people who are resting during the day, such as babies and bed-ridden people.

Symptoms such as high and persistent fever, accompanied by nausea and vomiting, constant headache, pain in the back of the eyes, red spots spread across the body, excessive tiredness and joint pain should be noticed, as they are indicative of dengue fever. In this case, seek a doctor immediately.

You can also help in the fight against mosquitoes by reporting the existence of possible outbreaks, through the Municipal Ombudsman’s Office, by telephone (48) 3621-9051, by WhatsApp (48) 98419-7361 or by email Ouviria@tubarao .sc.gov.br.

If you prefer, go in person to Facilita Tubarão, located at Rua Teresa Cristina, 236, in Oficinas, from Monday to Friday, from 1 pm to 7 pm, and make your report in person.
