When preparing porridge for children, it is important to avoid excessive use of sugar, preferring natural sweeteners such as honey or even leaving it without added sugar, as the added fruits can offer natural sweetness to the dessert.

1. Oatmeal with banana and cinnamon:

  • Ingredients:
    1. 1 cup of rolled oats
    2. 2 cups of milk (can be replaced with plant-based milk)
    3. 1 mashed ripe banana
    4. 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
    5. 1 tablespoon honey or other natural sweetener (optional)
  • Method of preparation:
    1. In a pan, mix the oats and milk.
    2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
    3. Add the mashed banana and cinnamon, mixing well.
    4. If desired, add honey or another natural sweetener.
    5. Cook for a few more minutes until you get the desired consistency.
    6. Serve it hot.

two. Quinoa porridge with apple and cinnamon:

  • Ingredients:
    1. 1/2 cup quinoa grains
    2. 1 cup milk (can be replaced with plant-based milk)
    3. 1 small apple chopped
    4. 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
    5. 1 tablespoon honey or other natural sweetener (optional)
  • Method of preparation:
    1. In a pan, mix the quinoa and milk.
    2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it boils.
    3. Reduce heat, add chopped apple and cinnamon.
    4. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the quinoa is tender and the porridge is creamy.
    5. If desired, add honey or another natural sweetener.
    6. Serve it hot.

3. Green corn porridge with coconut:

  • Ingredients:
    1. 1 cup green corn (can be fresh or canned)
    2. 1 cup coconut milk
    3. 1 tablespoon brown sugar
    4. 1 pinch of salt
  • Method of preparation:
    1. In a blender, blend the green corn with the coconut milk until obtaining a homogeneous mixture.
    2. Transfer the mixture to a pan, add the brown sugar and salt.
    3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
    4. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    5. Serve hot or cold, whichever you prefer.
