In João Pessoa, people who are part of the priority group for vaccination that protects against Influenza can go to a health service between 7am and 9pm. Influenza is an acute infection of the respiratory system, caused by the Influenza virus, with great transmission potential. There are four types of Influenza/flu viruses. Types A and B are responsible for seasonal epidemics, with the influenza A virus being responsible for major pandemics.

Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent flu and its complications. Due to this change in viruses, annual flu vaccination is necessary. “Influenza and Covid-19 continue to be threats to public health, especially for unvaccinated people. Therefore, we warn and recommend that people take advantage of the opportunity of the influenza vaccination campaign to update the vaccination status, especially for Covid-19 in eligible groups”, advised Fernando Virgolino, head of the Immunization Section of João Pessoa.

Users can access vaccination services at the Family Health Units, which operate from 7am to 11am and from 12pm to 4pm, at the Municipal Immunization Center and at municipal polyclinics, which operate from 8am to 4pm.

Three extra points are also available located at Shopping Sul, in the Bancários neighborhood, and at Home Center Ferreira Costa, on the banks of BR-230, which are open from Monday to Friday, from 12pm to 9pm, and at Shopping Tambiá, with service from 12pm to 8pm. During this campaign period, only the vaccine that protects against Influenza is administered at mobile points, to serve the priority public without large crowds.

For Influenza, the following are part of the priority group: children from 6 months to under 6 years of age (5 years, 11 months and 29 days), health workers, pregnant women, postpartum women (those women who are in the period of up to 45 days after childbirth), primary and higher education teachers, indigenous peoples, elderly people aged 60 or over, homeless people, professionals from the security and rescue forces, professionals from the Armed Forces and people with chronic non-communicable diseases and others special clinical conditions, people with permanent disabilities, public road transport workers for urban and long-distance passengers, port workers, population deprived of liberty and employees of the deprivation of liberty system, adolescents and young people aged 12 to 21 years under measures socio-educational.

Documentation – For vaccination, it is necessary to present, in addition to the vaccination card, supporting documents for each group. Professionals who fall within the expansion of priority groups must present an identification document with a photo and proof (declaration, class council card or paycheck) of their connection with the company or institution where they work. People with chronic non-communicable diseases and other special clinical conditions must present a medical report.

Home Vaccination – For people who are bedridden and restricted to bed. It is necessary to make an appointment by calling (83) 98645-7727. Vaccines are available at homes, from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm.
