With two new deaths from dengue confirmed, one in Guararema and the other in Mogi das Cruzes, Alto Tietê reaches 13 deaths from the disease in 2024. The data are from the Monitoring Panel of the Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika Division of the State of São Paul.
This was the first death from the disease this year in Guararema and occurred on March 1st. The victim was an 80-year-old woman, with comorbidities and resident of the Ipiranga neighborhood. The city is still investigating the death of an 89-year-old man who lived in the Nogueira neighborhood.
Mogi das Cruzes reached its third death from dengue in 2024. This time, the victim was a 20-year-old girl, resident of Jardim Piatã. She died on April 10, at Hospital Luzia de Pinho Melo.
Guararema has so far 417 confirmed cases of dengue and another 1,449 under investigation. Mogi das Cruzes has 3,346 confirmations and 7,542 under investigation.
In Alto Tietê, in addition to the death in Guararema and the other three in Mogi das Cruzes, five deaths have already been confirmed in Suzano, two in Santa Isabel, one in Ferraz de Vasconcelos and another in Itaquaquecetuba.
The region reached 13,821 confirmed cases of dengue this year and 18,252 cases are being investigated.
