According to the Municipal Health Department, the municipality is approaching 2,000 positive cases of the disease since January 1st.

Catanduva has three new dengue deaths under investigation, according to the São Paulo State Government Monitoring Panel. According to information from the Municipal Health Department, the victims are two men, aged 87 and 50, both with comorbidities; and a 21-year-old woman with no comorbidities.

The 87-year-old man, from the Agudo Romão neighborhood, was confirmed dead on April 23 and had Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH). The 50-year-old male victim, from the Monte Virgínia neighborhood, died on April 24 and had diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease.

As for the 21-year-old victim, who lived in Jardim Amêndola and whose death was confirmed on April 25th, unofficial information gathered by the V1 Notícias report, on Vox FM radio, shows that the patient had been treated in a private hospital in city. The young woman would have undergone tests on Saturday, April 20th, which would have indicated that she had dengue fever.

Dengue numbers keep rising in Catanduva. As of Monday, April 29, the city had already registered 5,470 notifications of the disease. There are already 1,996 confirmations and 1,340 cases under investigation. The municipality has already confirmed four deaths, among the victims, a man aged over 80 years and three women aged between 65 and 79 years.

City reaches five cases of chikungunya

From January until April 23, Catanduva had five confirmed cases of chikungunya. The confirmations took place in January (2) and April (3). The information was released by the Municipal Health Department. Since the beginning of this year, there have been 31 reports of the disease.

In the years 2022 and 2023, Catanduva had no records of chikungunya, which is also transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the same vector as dengue.

Symptoms are fever above 38 and a half degrees, of sudden onset, intense pain in the joints of feet and hands, fingers, ankles and wrists, headache, muscle pain and red spots on the skin.
