The population of Dourados gained another deadline to start vaccination against dengue. The deadline to receive the first dose of Qdenga would end this Tuesday (30th), but a new agreement with the City of Dourados, through Sems (Municipal Health Secretariat), with the Takeda Pharma Laboratory extended this date to the 19th. of May. Therefore, actions to approach the target audience will continue over the next three weeks.

The municipality of Dourados is the first in the country to carry out mass vaccination against dengue for all people between 4 and 59 years old, which is the age group authorized by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) to be vaccinated against the disease. In other cities, Qenga is available on the private network with an average price of R$500.00 per dose.

Vaccination began on January 3rd with an initial end date for the first dose on the 30th, now extended to May 19th. According to Edvan Marcelo Marques, manager of the Sems Immunization Center, representatives from the laboratory and the Department of Health met this Monday to assess the situation and received information that the doses necessary for this supplement are guaranteed.

“Even with the task force of recent weeks, we believe that there are still many people who need to be approached in partnerships with companies and entities to receive the first dose, in addition to people who were recovering from other diseases, such as dengue itself, and they need a deadline to receive the vaccine. Takeda Laboratory signaled to us that it could supply a batch necessary to complete the immunization of these people”, he explains.

The dengue vaccine is available in all Basic Health Units, which are open from Monday to Friday, and in the PAM Vaccination Room, which is also open on Saturdays.

In the coming weeks, special actions will continue to take the vaccine to companies, facilitating access for employees, and also with points open to the general public in supermarkets and religious entities and social clubs.
