Acre is out of stock of dengue vaccine. The information was confirmed by the National Immunization Program (PNI) to Rede Amazônica Acre. The doses would expire this Tuesday (30).

On the 18th, the PNI coordinator, Renata Quiles, reported that the State still had 11,173 doses to be administered. In order not to lose immunizers, the vaccine was released for people aged 4 to 59 years, prioritizing risk groups.

The coordinator confirmed that stock was exhausted on Saturday (27). “There was only one municipality with a dose, but it used a little of the doses and donated it to Crie, which served the public that showed up and exhausted the state’s stock. Even so, we only had 14 doses in Crie and 21 in these municipalities”, he concluded.

Low adherence meant that doses stored in municipalities accumulated close to the end of their validity. The second dose will be guaranteed for the public who took the vaccine in advance.

How to know if you have dengue and if it is serious

The vaccination schedule consists of two doses with an interval of three months between them. The age group of the target audience at first, 10 to 11 years old, had been chosen because it concentrates the highest number of hospitalizations due to dengue, within the group of children and adolescents aged 6 to 16 years old.

At least 17,810 doses of the vaccine against the disease were sent by the Ministry of Health and arrived in the state on February 13 of this year.

Headaches, body aches, malaise. These symptoms are among those that are usually immediately associated with dengue. However, the disease is not limited to these manifestations, as it can present itself in more serious forms.

Fever is the first symptom to appear, and generally remains above 38ºC. Infectious disease experts highlight that, after a mosquito bite, symptoms appear within 2 to 10 days. Some patients have more or fewer symptoms.

There is also headache, tiredness, muscle pain (myalgia), joint pain (arthralgia), pain behind the eyes (retro-orbital) and redness of the skin (exanthema) with or without itching (pruritus). The patient may also experience nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Avoid any unprotected standing water reservoir at home. The mosquito can use large spaces, such as water tanks and open swimming pools, as well as small objects, such as bottle caps and plant pots, as breeding sites.

Add sand to the plant dish or change the water once a week. But it’s not enough to empty the container. You need to rub it to remove the mosquito eggs deposited on the surface of the inner wall, just above the water level. The same goes for any container with water.
