Professionals from the Municipal Health Authority of Apucarana (Center-North) participated on Tuesday (30) in training on the care protocol for cases of oropouche fever. The guidelines were given by the doctor from the ESF (Family Health Strategy), Ariana Carolina Luciano Valim.

The event, held at Cine Teatro Fênix, brought together doctors, nurses, community health agents (ACS), agents to combat endemic diseases (ACE), dentistry professionals and other professionals from the city’s public health network.

“The guidelines were directed to the entire municipal health network. This effort aimed to train professionals to deal with the early identification and adequate treatment of oropouche fever”, explains the municipal health secretary, Emídio Bachiega.

The training of health teams is of fundamental importance due to the confirmation of a case of oropouche fever in Apucarana.

“Identified by the “sentinel event”, which is periodically used in blood sampling, this case led health authorities to intensify preventive measures in the region where the case was identified”, informs AMS doctor, Odarlone Orente.

The patient, a 57-year-old man, died. “The cause of death of this patient is still being investigated, so there is no way to confirm whether he was a victim of oropouche fever”, informs the health secretary of Apucarana, Emídio Bachiega.
