Garça City Hall, through the Municipal Health Department, released the updated dengue bulletin for the year 2024. The numbers are released weekly, and verification is carried out annually, following the protocols of the Ministry of Health. Counting takes place from January 1st to December 31st of each year.

Information about dengue from January 1st to April 27th, 2024:

  • Positives: 533
  • Negatives: 740
  • Suspects: 298

Suspicious death ruled out

Until the previous week’s bulletin there was information about a suspicious death, relating to a patient who died in February. The patient in question had already collected serology in a timely manner and obtained a negative result, however, with her death, there was a new collection for verification following the standards established by the Ministry of Health. In this week’s bulletin, the Department of Health informs that serology result returned as negative again, this way the death is no longer considered suspicious.

When to collect
The Department of Health asks everyone to have undergone consultation in a health unit or in the Emergency Care Unit – UPA, If the disease is suspected, blood collection (serology) must be taken within the deadline, which runs from the 6th day of onset of symptoms to the 30th day. When a test is not carried out in time, numerically it becomes considered positive, in addition, the patient will not be sure whether they have acquired the disease or not.

Let the agent in
Furthermore, agents are finding it difficult to access properties, since residents do not want to authorize the inspection. According to the protocol of the Ministry of Health, When there is a positive case or one under investigation in the area, agents visit homes and manually control breeding sites.that is, visiting house by house and checking possible breeding sites that must be removed, in addition to applying larvicide in specific cases. After this first visit, the agent must return after seven calendar days and retrace the entire route. According to the Health Surveillance, many residents are not allowing this second visit for verification, as they do not understand that the larvicide only lasts 7 days. Once again, we ask for everyone’s understanding, asking them to allow the agents to enter homes, as their work is essential for everyone’s health.
