The drinks work by increasing blood flow, stimulating sexual hormones; know the list.

Known for their stimulating properties, aphrodisiac teas are drinks prepared from plants, herbs or roots that help stimulate sexual desire and increase pleasure — alone or with others.

But how do they work? According to Ana Paula Arantes, nutritionist at Instituto Nutrindo Ideias, they act by increasing blood flow, stimulating sexual hormones and increasing libido and sexual function. In addition to increasing pleasure, they can be used as a Complementary holistic treatment for lack of sexual desire.

MinhaVida, together with the nutritionist, brought together some of the main aphrodisiac teas to include in the diet and improve sexual desire. Check out!

The bark of the catuaba, whose scientific name is Trichilia catigua, has been known and studied for years for its aphrodisiac properties. Consumption of tea, when combined with a healthy diet, contributes to increased blood circulation and the sensitivity of female genital organs — helping to stimulate female desire and pleasure.

How to make: add 2 tablespoons of dry catuaba bark to a container of boiling water and wait for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, just wait for it to cool and consume.

Despite being more potent in men, ginseng tea can be consumed by women to increase libido, as it improves blood flow and also induces the production of testosterone, an important hormone that influences sexual desire.

How to make: Use one tablespoon of ginseng root powder or two small ginseng roots. Boil 220 ml of filtered water, add the ingredient and let it cool for up to two minutes.

A source of vitamins, minerals and proteins, Peruvian maca stands out especially for its effect on libido. In addition to reducing stress and anxiety levels, it is believed to have an action on the hypothalamus and adrenal glands — exerting a stimulating effect that would help increase sexual desire.

How to make: add 2 to 3 teaspoons of Peruvian maca to a container of boiling water. Leave it to infuse for 10 to 15 minutes and then just let it cool.

Ginger is a root with anticoagulant action, which stimulates blood circulation and promotes the release of hormones. In combination with green tea, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, it contributes to a more active sex life.

How to make: Add 10 grams of ginger to a container of boiling water. After boiling, turn off the heat and add the green leaves, cover and leave to infuse for 5 to 10 minutes.

Fenugreek is a medicinal plant that helps regulate female hormone levels and, therefore, contributes to increasing libido and sexual satisfaction. It is also useful for promoting more energy and vitality.

How to make: Add two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds to a cup of cold water. Leave to rest for 3 hours. Then boil the liquid, strain and drink it while it is warm.

These teas are contraindicated for pregnant women, breastfeeding women and people with some sensitivity to their components. According to Ana Paula, it is also necessary to evaluate which medications the person is using, as the consumption of some teas can cause a drug interaction.

Furthermore, be careful about excessive consumption: do not drink more than two cups of tea per day, as unpleasant side effects such as nausea and vomiting may occur. If in doubt, consult a nutritionist.
