After three cases in Botuverá, the first case of oropouche fever was registered in Luiz Alves. The city hall released the information this Friday, 3.

The disease is caused by an arbovirus and is transmitted mainly by mosquitoes, the main one being the maruim. However, there is another mosquito that also transmits the disease, the Culex.

The symptoms of oropouche fever are similar to those of dengue and chikungunya: headache, muscle pain, joint pain, nausea and diarrhea. There is no specific treatment. Patients must remain at rest, with symptomatic treatment and monitoring by the municipal health network.
