Doubts? Health guides the population about Dengue and Influenza vaccines

Qdenga is available for the age group of 6 to 16 years and flu vaccine from 6 months. People should be aware of some information about intervals and symptoms before seeking vaccination

D-Day of vaccination against Influenza was held in Goiás on April 13, with more than 55 thousand doses of the vaccine applied

The Government of Goiás, through the State Department of Health of Goiás, provides important information so that the population can be guided in relation to vaccines against Influenza (flu) and Dengue. At this moment, the epidemiological scenario across the country shows the concomitance of dengue and influenza cases, with a considerable increase in respiratory diseases, which puts pressure on public and private health services.

The superintendent of Health Surveillance at SES-GO, Flúvia Amorim, explains that vaccines prevent hospitalizations and deaths and it is necessary to prioritize care for others.

“We have vaccines available, low coverage and hospitalizations increasing. The population needs to do their part and trust in the vaccines that have always saved lives, which is why we bring these important guidelines.”

Regarding Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome due to Influenza, there are 161 registered cases (Influenza), and 15 deaths (Influenza). Therefore, the main recommendation is that people look for vaccination rooms throughout the state to reduce the possibility of worsening, hospitalization and death for both diseases, especially during the autumn and winter period, as respiratory diseases are more common. frequent and people spend more time indoors.

So let’s look at the main recommendations for those who are going to get vaccinated in the next few days:

I took the first dose of the dengue vaccine at the private laboratory. Can I take the second dose in the public unit?
Yes you can. As long as you are within the recommended age range, which is 6 to 16 years old.

I had dengue. How long to wait to take the first dose?
You must wait at least 6 months after the end of symptoms to take the first dose.

Who can get vaccinated against flu and dengue?
Influenza vaccination is available throughout the state for people aged 6 months and older. In relation to dengue, the age range is 6 to 16 years.

Can I get the dengue vaccine (1st or 2nd dose) and the flu at the same time?
No. The Ministry of Health released a technical note advising not to apply any vaccine together with Qdenga. In the case of flu vaccination, the minimum interval is 24 hours.

Should anyone who had dengue fever between the two doses of the Qdenga vaccine follow the vaccination schedule?
Yes. Anyone who had dengue fever after the first dose must also complete the regimen, respecting the 30-day interval between the onset of the disease and the application of the second dose.

I had dengue fever and didn’t take the new vaccine against the disease. Do I still need to get vaccinated? How long should I wait?
Yes, the dengue virus has different serotypes and the new vaccine (Qdenga) offers protection against the four main ones: DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4. Therefore, vaccination is recommended even for those who have already had the disease. However, anyone who has not been vaccinated with Qdenga must wait 6 months after infection to be immunized.

Can someone who has the flu get the flu vaccine?
People with the flu if they have a fever should postpone vaccination against the disease and wait for their symptoms to improve.

What is the interval between the two doses of the dengue vaccine
The interval is 90 days (3 months).

I got the flu shot and got the flu. Why did this happen?
The vaccine takes around 10 days to produce antibodies in sufficient quantities. As the virus is already circulating, the person may already be infected (incubated) and there was not enough time to produce protective antibodies.
