Starting this Monday (6), residents of Blumenau can get the flu vaccine for free. As released by the Ministry of Health, the vaccine is available to all people over 6 months of age. To receive the dose, simply bring an official document with photo and vaccination card to the clinic or General Family Outpatient Clinic.

The flu vaccine offered in the public health network is trivalent, which protects against the main influenza viruses circulating in Brazil, which are influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and influenza B. The Secretary of Health Promotion, Jaqueline Mocelin reinforces that the expansion aims to reduce the number of hospitalizations and serious cases caused by the disease:

— Currently, vaccination coverage in our municipality is 28.42%, with the target recommended by the Ministry of Health being 90%. Therefore, here is our appeal for the residents of Blumenau to look for the vaccine. In relation to children who will receive the vaccine for the first time, the guideline is to take two doses 30 days apart — he explains.
