Joinville City Hall, through the Health Department, will carry out a flu vaccination campaign on Saturday (11/5) in the city’s three shopping malls. The influenza vaccine will be available to everyone over 6 months of age, from 1pm to 7pm, in the Mueller, Garten and Cidade das Flores shopping malls.

Teams from the Department of Health will be offering the vaccine to the community on a first-come, first-served basis. At Garten Shopping, the action will take place in the services alley, at the entrance to the parking lot. At Shopping Cidade das Flores, the team will be in a room close to the food court. At Shopping Mueller, immunization will take place on the first floor, close to the parking lot.

The flu vaccine offered by SUS is trivalent, protecting against the main viruses circulating in Brazil: influenza A (H1N1), influenza A (H3N2) and the influenza B virus. To receive the vaccine, it is necessary to present an official document, Vaccination card, in addition to a document from the guardian in the case of minors. The vaccine is not administered to people with flu-like symptoms. In these cases, it is necessary to wait for the health condition to improve.

Joinville has around 70 thousand doses of the vaccine in stock. The expansion of vaccination follows the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and takes into account the increase in the number of hospitalizations recorded as a result of the flu.

Vaccination against influenza began on March 21 and, since then, 29.6% of the priority public has been immunized in Joinville. With the expansion of vaccination, in addition to the previously foreseen group, anyone over six months of age can receive the vaccine.

Vaccinations can be administered during the week

During the week, in Joinville, the vaccine is administered in the Basic Family Health Units (UBSF), with the exception of UBSF Jativoca and the UBSFs Aventureiro III, João Costa and Comasa, which are providing support in the care of patients with dengue, with the Specialized Wards and Sentinel Unit. Another option is the Central Vaccination Room, which is located on Rua Abdon Batista.

It is not necessary to make an appointment in advance, just arrive at least half an hour before the units close. Information about hours and address is available on the City Hall website (bit.ly/UBSFJoinville).
