The vaccination campaign against Influenza was extended to cover the entire population in Tijucas, following the same guidelines adopted throughout Brazil. The process began this Monday (06) at the city’s vaccination centers, after authorization from the Ministry of Health to expand vaccination coverage.
The Health Department clarifies that the State Government was awaiting approval from the Ministry of Health to expand the campaign to all age groups.
“Considering that the flu virus is constantly mutating, it is essential to receive the vaccine annually to maintain protection. For this reason, the composition of the vaccine is adjusted each year, according to the strains of the virus that are in circulation, as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO)”, explains Tijucas Health Secretary, Josiane Amorim.
Vaccination is available to everyone from six months of age and is carried out in all Basic Health Units that have a vaccination room, during working days and during normal opening hours. To receive immunization, you must present your vaccination card and a photo ID.
According to the coordinator of Tijucas Health Surveillance, Idarleni Daroci, the expansion of the campaign aims to increase vaccination coverage during this period, when respiratory infections tend to intensify.
“Initially targeted at priority groups, vaccination is crucial to reduce the incidence of the disease, especially in people with pre-existing health conditions, preventing hospitalizations and deaths, in addition to relieving the burden on health services”, explains the coordinator, Idarleni.

In addition to the vaccination rooms, Health Surveillance is providing professionals to administer the vaccine in companies and industries in the city.
