The City of Pederneiras, through the Municipal Health Department, informs that educational actions are being carried out aimed at preventing and combating high blood pressure and fibromyalgia.

The activities are being carried out in health units, with the aim of alerting the population to the risks of these diseases and the importance of adhering to treatment and routine consultations.
Arterial hypertension is a chronic disease that results in high blood pressure levels in the arteries. It occurs when the maximum and minimum pressure values ​​are equal to or exceed 140/90 mmHg (or 14 by 9). In 90% of cases it is a disease inherited from the parents. However, several factors related to lifestyle also contribute to blood pressure levels, such as smoking, alcoholic beverages, obesity, cholesterol, excessive salt consumption, stress and a sedentary lifestyle. Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease characterized by pain throughout the body and causes other symptoms such as fatigue, tiredness, changes in memory and attention, anxiety, depression and intestinal changes. The diagnosis is clinical, that is, it does not require tests to prove that it is present.

“It’s an important issue that affects many people, who often don’t even know they have the problem. Therefore, the action is to help and raise awareness about the importance of preventive care”, explains the Primary Care coordinator, Gláucia Cavalsan Dario.
