uA 45-year-old woman of English nationality died on Wednesday on Penedo beach, in the municipality of Albufeira. As announced this Thursday, the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the victim will have felt ill when leaving the water.
In a statement published on the website, the authority indicates that it received an alert at 1:15 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa), “reporting that a person was feeling unwell after getting out of the water at Penedo beach”.
“The elements of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão, the ‘SeaWatch’ Project and the Medical and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) of INEM were immediately activated for the location”, adds the note.
The victim “was promptly assisted on the beach by INEM elements”, but it was not possible to reverse the situation and death was declared on the spot by the INEM doctor.
The body was transported to the Medical-Legal Office of Portimão, by the Volunteer Firefighters of Albufeira, after indications from the Public Ministry and the local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão took care of the occurrence.
