Bad weather is hitting the north of the country this Saturday and there are records of floods in Vila Nova de Gaia and Porto. The S. Bento metro station was flooded and is closed.
In the city of Porto, the metro station of S. Bento was flooded and is closed. There are also records of floods in Campo 24 de Agosto and several shops and cafes were completely flooded. Many merchants have already started cleaning the spaces.
According to testimonies gathered by the CMTVabout 30 minutes of rain were enough for downtown Porto to be completely flooded.
In Vila Nova de Gaia, the Afurada area was one of those affected by the heavy rains. There are already several operators on site trying to drain the water.
Until 13:00, 193 occurrences were registered in the Porto metropolitan area.
The head of municipal Civil Protection is already in downtown Porto assessing the situation.
Circulation on the yellow line has already been reestablished, but the S. Bento station will remain closed, according to the TSF
