Polytechnic of Portalegre changes the name of two schools to boost the institution’s growth

The Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre decided to change the name of two of its schools.

After the due procedures, the Escola Superior Agrária de Elvas is renamed Elvas Higher School of Biosciences and the Higher School of Technology and Management adopts the name of Higher School of Technology, Management and Design.

According to a note sent by IPP to our editors, this change aims to contribute to the growth and prestige of the Institution.

Changing the name to Higher School of Technology, Management and Design, explains the Polytechnic of Portalegre, is “corresponding to the development and relevance of the area of ​​Design in the School, which has been consolidated over the years of its existence, translating today into a set of courses recognized for their quality, with a growing number of students and a qualified teaching staff.”

“Design thus sees reflected in the School’s designation the importance it represented and will continue to represent for the growth and prestige of the institution” adds the statement.

In Elvas, the objective of this change “was to create the necessary conditions for proposing other training offers, in different domains of knowledge, with a view to making the most of existing resources, at the level of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences, enhancing multidisciplinarity and expanding the range of choices available for students to apply to the Polytechnic of Portalegre, from a perspective of sustainability and territorial cohesion. Having been preceded by reflection and extensive internal discussion, the possibility of this change was welcomed, both at the School and in the community.”

The Polytechnic of Portalegre believes that the conditions are met to continue on the path of growth and affirmation of the Polytechnic of Portalegre.
