At a dinner-rally in Braga, the district where he is from and for which he is running in the legislative elections on the 10th, Rui Rocha stated that the governance of the PS, BE and PCP was bad for Portugal, but even worse for the Minho district.

The liberal leader considered that left-wing governance brought “absolutely harmful consequences” for Braga and Minho as a whole, especially with regard to transport and health.

In terms of transport, Rui Rocha criticized the “huge delay” in railway investment in the region, even assuming himself as a “victim of Comboios de Portugal (CP)”, as well as many of those who live in Braga, Guimarães or Barcelos.

Speaking about his case in particular, the IL leader, who spends the week in Lisbon due to his status as deputy in the Assembly of the Republic, revealed that he used the train to come and spend the weekends in Braga to be with his family, but He stopped doing it because he never knew what time he would arrive and what time he would leave.

“Yes, behind the PS propaganda there is a huge delay in investment in the railway, there is a huge degradation in the operating conditions of the railways and there is a huge degradation in the mobility conditions in this region where we are”, he stressed.

Therefore, Rui Rocha wants the train to connect Famalicão, Braga, Barcelos and Guimarães because the region’s mobility problems can be solved with the railway and not with the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit, aka ‘metrobus’) which the Government “wants impose” on the country.

The liberal leader also criticized the health management carried out in this district, namely the PS, BE and PCP reversing the public-private partnership at Braga Hospital.

The consequences of this decision are “evident, given that the service has worsened, users are worse off, costs have risen and healthcare professionals are more unhappy”, he said.

This decision taken out of “sole ideological interest” harmed the population, health professionals and the State, he considered.
