The Municipality of Santarém received, on February 27th, a visit from sixteen (16) 11th grade students and seven (7) teachers who are participating in the Erasmus+ school certification project: CarexMe.

Alfredo Amante, Councilor of the Santarém City Council, welcomed this group and, highlighting the importance of education as one of the fundamental pillars of our society, said that “these projects are very important as they allow, through open dialogue, a sharing of ideas, experiences and an exchange of knowledge from other cultures where you, students, can integrate. Take advantage of these opportunities to socialize with each other and transmit values, developing not only your educational process, but also your personal one, because you will be the pillars of our society”.

This project, which is taking place at Escola Dr. Ginestal Machado, involves eight (8) students from this educational institution and eight (8) students from the Spanish school IES Proba del Caraminal.

For a week, this group of students, under the guidance of teachers, will talk about depression and anxiety in young people and how to deal with this problem.

As school is a privileged way to ask for help and talk about this subject, the objective is, through various activities, to allow students a different approach to this complex and difficult to understand topic and to provide them with tools to combat it.
