-

This Saturday, André Ventura rejected suspicions of illegal financing for Chega, but admitted that there were problems in the previous way of invoicing donations.

This Friday, TVI reported that an audit by the Political Accounts and Financing Entity (ECFP) found evidence of “non-compliance with the law on donations” It is “possible prohibited financing” in Chega’s 2019 accounts.

However, André Ventura denied the information disclosed in the investigation of the Exclusivo TVI program, stating that it was the party itself that reported to the auditor the difficulties it was having with banks in obtaining complete identification of donors.

Upon arrival for lunch in Coimbra, the Chega leader explained that in 2019, when the party was still in its infancy, had a transfer system which in some cases did not allow effective identification of the financiers who made the deposits and that is why the Accounts Entity does not know who some of the people are who made donations to Chega.

André Ventura guaranteed that “Chega delivered all the documents”and that after what happened in 2019 the party “The donation invoicing system has changed and today it has a much more complete system than all the others”.

“Chega is the most transparent party in Portugal”assured the party leaderstating that the party delivers information to the Tax Authority every month and that is why “they don’t make sense” the information reported by TVI on Friday.
