The composition of the Superior Council of FC Porto for the four-year period 2024-2028 is already known.

After the decision of the members, who assigned 18,806 votes to List B (15 elements), 5,511 to List A (4 elements) and 1,936 to List D (1 element), this is the constitution of the consultative body led by António Tavares (as President of the Board of the General Assembly): Fernando Freire de Sousa, Alberto Castro, Alexandre Teixeira dos Santos, Álvaro Magalhães, Américo Aguiar, Ana Cristina Nunes Costa, Anabela Monteiro, António Ferreira da Silva, Cristiana Vieira, Deocleciano Carvalho, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, Francisco Teles de Menezes, Joana Carvalho, Luís Miguel Osório, Manuel Pizarro, Maria Brás Marques, Matilde Ribeiro, Miguel Brás da Cunha, Paulo Ramalheira Teixeira and Vitória Bastos.

Remember that list B, led by André Villas-Boas, won the most competitive election in the club’s history. This Saturday, at Estádio do Dragão, 26,876 FC Porto members exercised their right to vote, electing the 32nd president of the institution founded in 1893.

Fernando Freire de Sousa, head of list B on the Superior Council, was born in Porto in 1953 and is member number 546 of FC Porto. Practitioner of gymnastics and swimming at the club and table tennis athlete – including national junior team champion in 1972 -, he was a member, in several terms, of the Superior Council of FC Porto, the Advisory Council and the Remuneration Committee of SAD Porto, among 2008 and 2016.

Graduated in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto (1970/75), he is also a Doctor in Economics and International Finance (U. Paris I, 1984), International Economic Relations (U.Porto, 1986) and holder of the Aggregate Degree in Economics (ISEG-UTL, 1999). He was a professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, his most constant activity (1975/2010) throughout almost five decades of his professional career.

In addition to these functions and among other positions, he served as Associate Researcher at CEPII (Paris, 1981/83), Director and Administrator at the BPA Group (1984/96), Secretary of State for Competitiveness and Internationalization (XIII Constitutional Government-António Guterres , 1996/97), President of the Fund for the Internationalization of Portuguese Companies (FIEP, 1998/2003), member of governing bodies in several companies and institutions (2004/2016) and President of the North Regional Coordination and Development Commission (2016 /2020).

He is currently president of the General Council of the University of Porto, as well as vice-president of the Fundação Casa da Música and member of the Advisory Councils of the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto and Católica Porto Business School, and was honored by the President of the Republic Portuguese with the Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique (2006).
