Bata Branca Project has already carried out more than seven thousand medical consultations in the Municipality of Azambuja

The “Bata Branca” program was born from a collaboration agreement signed between Cerci-Flor da Vida de Azambuja, ACSS – Central Administration of the Health System and the Municipality of Azambuja. It is a service that allows access to general clinic consultations for all residents registered in the Health Units of the Municipality of Azambuja, who do not have a family doctor assigned.

These consultations began in June 2023, at the Azambuja Health Center, and were extended to the Aveiras de Cima Medical Post, the following month.

Meanwhile, this service was also reinforced with teleconsultations, aimed at users without a family doctor who are dependent at home and unable to travel.

The program began with care provided by 8 doctors and a nurse, and currently has 12 doctors and a nurse participating.

At the end of 2023, the Bata Branca project had a total of 5,435 medical consultations carried out. The balance sheet for this period also includes 685 hospital referrals and 366 certificates issued.

This volume of services (from June to December/2023) represents an investment of 30,920.50 euros, by the City Council, as a partner in the project in supplementing the remuneration of the health professionals involved.

It is also worth remembering that on February 28, 2024, the renewal of the protocol that ensures the continuity of the health care project called Bata Branca, between the Azambuja Municipal Council and Cerci-Flor da Vida, took place. With this renewal, the municipality will now provide a maximum annual budget of €69,600.00 to support medical consultations and health care for the municipality’s population without a designated family doctor.

In 2024, on February 29th, this project already totaled 2,032 medical consultations carried out, 226 referrals and 275 certificates issued. In these two months of activity, the investment by the City Council was €10,595.00.

Please remember that consultations operate exclusively on a scheduled basis. Appointments must be made by calling 961 044 605 or 961 030 457, between 8am and 4pm. You can also book your appointment in person at the Azambuja Health Center, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The aim of the Bata Branca project is to minimize the shortcomings of the National Health Service by making it easier for more users to access the medical care they need, and it is the intention of the Municipal Council of Azambuja to bring this health care, if possible, to the entire population. county.
