«Heroes of the Sea» face off against Norway, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The national handball team makes its debut this Thursday afternoon in the Pre-Olympic Tournament. The «Heroes of the Sea» have their sights set on a new, unprecedented feat, this time a consecutive presence at the Olympic Games. From 5:30 pm onwards, Portugal will face Norway, in Tatabánya, Hungary.

Paulo Pereira’s men share Group 3 with Tunisia and Hungary, teams that they will face this Saturday afternoon (4pm) and this Sunday evening (8pm), respectively. The two best teams in each group will qualify for Paris 2024.

This is the second time that Portugal has qualified for the Olympic Games, after qualifying against France, which allowed them to participate in the last Olympic Games, held in Tokyo, in 2021.

Follow, up to the minute, the match between Portugal and Norway.

In Group 1 are Spain, Bahrain, Brazil and Slovenia. In Group 2, Germany faces Algeria, Croatia and Austria.

Portugal, remember, was in the main round of this year’s European Championship, one point away from competing for 5th and 6th place in the competition. This place was reached by Slovenia (6th) and the tournament was won by France.
