‘Totti loves pineapple on his pizza’: Brighton fans respond to Roma ultras

The Europa League tie that pitted Brighton and Roma face to face was marked by the Italian team’s qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition, as well as an exchange of ‘pennants’ from the fans in the stands.

In yesterday’s game in England, Brighton fans displayed a banner that read in Italian “Totti loves pineapple on his pizza”. As is known, most Italians consider that pineapple is not an ingredient that should be put on pizzas and the Seagulls fans made use of this fact, also alluding to Francesco Totti, former glory of the Giallorossi.

The provocation followed another, which had happened last week in Italy. In the first leg, Roma’s ultras displayed a much more offensive banner which read in English: “The queen did b…”

Remember that in the first leg Roma won at home, 4-1. On Thursday, Monday, Brighton won 1-0 but ended up being eliminated from the Europa League.
