The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a 21-year-old young man suspected of trying to stab a couple to death near a nightlife establishment in Barcelos, in November 2023, that force announced this Friday.
In a statement, the PJ states that the events occurred in the early hours of November 4th, when two groups got involved “in a heated argument” inside a nightlife space, ending up being expelled by the establishment’s security.
He adds that on the public road, in the vicinity of that space, the groups continued the discussion and attacked each other.
“The suspect, belonging to one of the groups, armed with a knife, attacked a man and a woman from the rival group, causing them serious injuries, namely a puncture wound in the torso area, putting their lives at risk, mainly that of the male element”, says the statement.
The attacker was detained on Thursday.
The victims are a couple, he is 20 and she is 24 years old.
Indicted for two crimes of attempted qualified homicide, the attacker will be present at the Court of Guimarães, district of Braga, for the first judicial interrogation and application of coercive measures.
