ASAE SEIZES 915 KILOS OF PRODUCTS OF ANIMAL ORIGIN IN VILA REAL

The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE), announced this Saturday that, through the Northern Regional Unit – Mirandela Operational Unit, it carried out an inspection action, in a restaurant and beverage establishment in the district of Vila Real.

According to ASAE, following the investigation, “three horizontal freezer cabinets were found with various foodstuffs that lacked health marking, lack of identification mark, lack of labeling/traceability and poor packaging causing the accumulation of crystals of ice, burns and other changes”, he explains, in a statement sent to the Canal N newsroom.

In an annex of the establishment there was also an adult pig carcass hanging, “weighing around 200 kg, with signs of clandestine slaughter, without any visible marking of having been subjected to health inspection in a slaughterhouse”, mandatory before and after slaughter, for disease screening.

As a result of the action, around 915 kilos of various products of animal origin were seized, which, after being subject to examination by the Municipal Veterinary Doctor, were considered abnormal, damaged, lacking traceability and originating from clandestine slaughter.

ASAE opened a criminal case and detained three defendants, who were subject to the identity and residence term measure (TIR) ​​and notified to appear in court.

The seizure amounted to a total value of 6,617.75 euros.
