Tourists went for a walking tour and were never seen again.

An Army drone and another from Civil Protection are being used in the search operation for the French tourist couple who disappeared, Saturday, on the north coast of the island of Madeira. The 58-year-old man and the 56-year-old woman are being sought by sea, land and air. The couple was last seen in the Calhau area, in the municipality of São Vicente, where they are staying.

The alert was given by the daughter, who stayed at the accommodation, while her parents went for a walk.

Two inspectors from the Judiciary Police yesterday joined the mega-operation that is coordinated by the PSP of Madeira and also involves the GNR, the Civil Protection, the Maritime Authority and Sanas – Associação Madeira para o Socorro no Mar. The PJ retraced the steps of the tourists .

According to the PSP, the couple left the accommodation at 2:30 pm and was seen, at 3:30 pm, walking towards Porto Moniz. This Sunday, the operatives traveled to higher places, in the mountains and on paths, but to no avail.

The PSP Search, Rescue, Relief and Mountain Rescue brigade also participated in the second day of searches.
