A 32-year-old woman was arrested by the Leiria PSP Criminal Investigation Squadron on Monday, suspected of threatening and persecuting her 59-year-old partner.

According to a statement from the Leiria PSP District Command, the detainee was “indicted for extreme physical and psychological violence towards her partner”, “through actions of persecution in the workplace and leisure, control of the victim’s cell phone” and ” threats of suicide using
White gun”.

Most of these behaviors took place in the presence of their youngest child, aged 6.

The victim, on several occasions, asked for help, sleeping in a separate room with the door locked, “out of fear for his integrity, considering that in addition to episodes of psychological violence, he had already been attacked several times in different parts of his body, at the same time who exercised coercion over him to carry out his maneuvers of control and jealousy, as well as obtaining material goods at the victim’s expense”.

The criminal investigation judge, before whom the victim was present today, applied a “co-active regime based on prohibitions on contact with the victim, prohibition on staying and frequenting the victim’s residence and his place of work” .

“The District Command of the PSP of Leiria reiterates its priority commitment to the defense of victims and the arrest of all perpetrators of the crime of domestic violence, which has had a great expression in the district, appealing to the victims, as well as the community in generally, file a complaint, in order to allow the PSP to act quickly and effectively”, advises the police.
