The municipality of Esposende will create a social and psychological support office for families, children and youth, to fill a need identified in the municipality in that area, it was announced today.
In a statement, the municipality states that the office aims at local and systematic intervention in terms of information, advice and training of children, young people and families in terms of their rights and in terms of strategies to promote increasingly positive parenting.
It will also focus on promoting community projects and local policies that favor the protection of the rights of those target groups.
“This is a priority and an instrument of the greatest relevance, especially since there is no specific and permanent local structure in the municipality for social and psychological support for childhood, youth and parenting”, highlights the statement.
According to an announcement published today in Diário da República, the cabinet regulations are under public consultation until May 6th, with any interested party being able to present their complaints, observations or suggestions.
The creation of the Family, Childhood and Youth Support Office follows from the Diagnosis of Children and Youth Reality and the Local Plan for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Children and Young People of Esposende 2022-2026, carried out in 2023.
“Esposende assumes an innovative role in matters of childhood, youth and parenting, not only through a commitment to close intersectoral coordination, but also through the promotion of concerted action with other agents involved in the territory, seeking to provide a response effective to the problems identified”, says the statement.
