Four restaurants on Rua do Benformoso, in the historic center of Lisbon, were closed on Monday “due to lack of hygiene conditions and various infractions”, following joint inspection operations with several entities, the PSP announced this Wednesday.
According to the PSP, the total suspension of activity of four establishments on Rua do Benformoso, in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, occurred on Monday, following an inspection operation with the collaboration of the Tax Authority, the Food Safety Authority and Económica (ASAE), the Portuguese Social Security Institute and the Authority for Working Conditions (ACT).
The restaurants were closed “due to lack of hygiene conditions and various infractions”, with 29 administrative offenses issued, namely seven for lack of hygiene, six for failure to issue invoices and two for irregular workers.
The remaining administrative offenses referred to the lack of mandatory information signs, lack of display of opening hours, lack of menu in Portuguese and lack of product prices and VAT indication.
In the statement, the PSP also revealed that on March 13, in another operation carried out in the same parish and in Misericórdia, aimed at establishments selling retail items, hundreds of items related to vaporized tobacco and articles had been seized. sports equipment because they avoid paying excise taxes and/or are counterfeit products.
425 items were seized, with a total value of 5,137 euros, including 178 products related to vaporized tobacco (“vapes”), worth 1,882 euros, and 247 counterfeit sporting goods (namely t-shirts and shorts), worth 3,255 euros. .
As part of this operation, 18 administrative offense proceedings were initiated, including several due to the absence of labels, one due to the seizure of alcoholic distilled beverages without stamps, four due to issues related to fire extinguishers, one due to non-issuance of an invoice and one due to failure to send original page of the complaints book.
