Paulo Sousa re-candidates for the presidency of the Musical Band Board

The Póvoa de Varzim Musical Band Association will elect the new managing bodies on Saturday, March 23rd. The single candidate list for the 2024-25 biennium is headed by Paulo Sousa, current president of the association.

“I re-applied for a variety of reasons,” Paulo Sousa told MAIS/Semanário. “Firstly, because I believe in the Association, in the people I lead and in all the elements that are part of it. I am re-applying because I have the trust of my colleagues and friends in management and all social bodies”, he began by saying.

And he continued: “I am re-applying because I see in the Association and, in particular in the Musical Band, an opportunity for young people to be able to play a wind or percussion musical instrument in a more real context, within the scope of performance. I am re-applying because I see in the Associação da Banda Musical da Póvoa de Varzim a banner of Póvoa de Varzim and, as a Póvoa de Varzim citizen, I like and am proud to represent my city, through the Banda Musical da Póvoa de Varzim”.

The single list is practically the same as the one currently performing functions. As Paulo Sousa explained, “in the universe of 17 elements, between management and other social bodies, there will be a replacement in one of the elements that, by choice, will not continue, in fact as has already happened in other moments of elections”.
