On stage: Elsa Valentim (Alícia), Patrícia André (Ágata) and André Nunes (Alfredo), in a scene from the play by Catalan Lluïsa Cunillé

The new production by Teatro dos Aloés is already on stage, at Recreios da Amadora. ‘Illusionists’, by Catalan playwright Lluïsa Cunillé, follows three brothers who move in the world of magic and the creation of “alternative realities”. Alfredo makes a living doing tricks, Ágata is his assistant and also sings, Alícia writes novels “that are read in the bathroom”.

On stage, André Nunes, Patrícia André and Elsa Valentim embody these characters “whose purpose is to provoke illusions in others, but who, deep down, are also deluded”, as he explains to the CM the director Jorge Silva.

“I was attracted to this mysterious and somewhat surrealist text, and above all these fragile characters, who tell us a story that could be true – or not”, he adds. “Let the viewer decide for themselves.”As part of the World Theater Day celebrations, on Tuesday there will be a special screening of this show, at 9 pm, with tickets priced at three euros.
