A “fusion of atmospheres and experiences, thus bringing a new sound to the project”.

The Paredes de Coura Cultural Center hosts the first live performance of PHOLE |TRIO on May 17th, as part of the Pollination Cycle. The PHOLE project, led by João Gigante, originally solo, gains a new essence presenting itself in TRIO.

The group is made up of artists with a vast musical CV, namely João Gigante on concertina, born in Viana do Castelo, Vítor Lima on percussion and Jaime Alvarez on electric bass, both with roots from Alto Minho. Originally, the PHOLE Project explores the diatonic accordion, also known as concertina, which references the memory and stories of the place where it belongs, as well as taking advantage of the visual arts.

PHOLE|TRIO “brings a different sound, but without losing the original aesthetic”, according to João Gigante. Both this concert and the next ones will be accompanied by the screening of a film. TRIO also has a showcase recorded at the beginning of this year that is already available on digital platforms with three songs already available. This explores “a journey through original PHOLE themes, performed in TRIO, where the concertina dialogues with other instruments”.
