With the Bata Branca project, implemented in June 2023 at the Azambuja Health Center, a total of 7,467 consultations were carried out until 29 February of this year for users in the municipality of Azambuja. 911 hospital referrals were also made and 641 certificates issued, the municipality of Azambuja said in a statement, highlighting that despite “not being the solution to the problem of the lack of doctors” this program is “a good measure” that guarantees healthcare to population. This volume of services, from June 2023 to February 2024, represents an investment of 41,515 euros by the Chamber of Azambuja as a partner entity of the project in supplementing the remuneration of the health professionals involved.
Bata Branca, remember, was born from a collaboration agreement signed between Cerci-Flor da Vida de Azambuja, the Central Administration of the Health System and the municipality of Azambuja, with the aim of allowing access to general clinic consultations to all residents registered in the health units of that municipality without an assigned family doctor. In addition to taking place at the Azambuja Health Center, the consultations were extended to the Aveiras de Cima medical post and in a teleconsultation format for users in a situation of dependence at home and unable to travel.
The program, which will continue until at least December 2024, began with care provided by eight doctors and one nurse, and currently has 12 doctors and one nurse participating.
