The Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP) brought charges against the man who, on March 28 last year, killed two women with a knife in the Ismaili Center in Lisbon, only being stopped with a shot from the PSP on one leg. The man, an Afghan national, will be charged with two counts of aggravated murder, six counts of attempted aggravated murder, two counts of resisting and coercing an employee and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

“The defendant suffered, at the time of the facts, and also suffers from a psychic anomaly, including a psychiatric condition of schizophrenia and a mixed personality disorder, namely narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder, which is why the declaration was requested of non-imputability. There is a high probability that the defendant will commit other typical illicit acts of the same nature, which is why the DCIAP also requested the judicial application of a security measure for internment”, states a note from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation was led by DCIAP, with the assistance of the Judicial Police – Counter Terrorism Unit. The defendant is subject to the coercive measure of preventive hospitalization in a psychiatric hospital.
