Assembly of the Republic: president and vice-presidents elected on Tuesday, all benches will have a place in the 1st row

Deputies will elect on Tuesday not only the new president of the Assembly of the Republic, but all the members of the Parliament’s table, it was decided this Monday at a conference of leaders.

The result of the meeting was transmitted to journalists by the President of the Assembly of the Republic himself, Augusto Santos Silva, who also stated that all parliamentary groups will have at least one seat in the front row of the hemicycle.

In the inaugural session of the XVI legislature, the entire Assembly Bureaucomposed of the president of the Assembly of the Republic, four vice-presidents, four secretaries and four vice-secretaries and members of the Parliament’s Board of Directors.

Two years ago, in the XV legislature, only the president of parliament was elected in the first session, as required by the Rules of Procedure, with the remaining names being elected (or failing to be elected, in the cases of Chega and IL) in a subsequent plenary session.

According to Augusto Santos Silva, it was also defined by the conference of leaders to distribution of deputies in the hemicycle for the inaugural sessionwhich was “definitely stabilized” to the front row.

In this row, from left to right, two deputies from BE, two from PCP, two from Livre, five deputies from PS, five deputies from PSD, two from IL, one from CDS and four deputies from Chega will sit.
