Na note sent to the Lusa agency, the guardianship indicates that, according to the survey carried out with the hotel industry, the municipality of Funchal has an occupancy rate of 86%, while outside the capital the occupancy drops to 81%, the same value as is scheduled for Porto Santo.
The overall occupancy rate for Easter in the Madeira archipelago therefore stands at 85%, slightly lower than that predicted in the survey carried out last year for the same festive period, which was 83%.
On the other hand, this year there is an increase in five-star hotels, “from 78% to 83% in 2024”, says the Regional Tourism Secretariat.
Quoted in the note, the person responsible for the Tourism department in the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP), Eduardo Jesus, is satisfied with the predicted hotel occupancy values, considering that they reflect “the consolidation of an evolution that has made the demand has manifested itself in a very evident way in recent years”.
“These are indicators that leave us very satisfied and that lead us to believe that we will have a very strong and dynamic Easter in this tourist destination”, says the official.
During the Easter period, the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP) grants time off on Thursday and Saturday in public services, public institutes and public companies under its supervision.
The decision was taken at the Regional Government Council meeting last Friday.
