The Municipal Museum of Tavira promotes, on March 30th, at 10:30 am, a guided tour of the “Balsa, Roman City” exhibition, under the guidance of archaeologist Celso Candeias.

On view at Palácio da Galeria, the exhibition “Balsa, Cidade Romana” provides a journey of 2000 years, to the time when it flourished, next to the banks of the Ria Formosa, the city that became the capital of a municipality Roman.

Throughout 10 rooms, and through an exhibition based on around 100 pieces from various national museums, we will learn about various aspects linked to the origin and evolution of that city, as well as its main economic activities, eating habits and daily life of its inhabitants. We also have the opportunity to learn about the names of some Balsense citizens and their professional positions, their concerns about health, beauty and religion or the funeral rituals practiced by some of them at the time of the death of their loved ones, whose names, engraved in stones , remained eternal until our days.

Those interested in participating (maximum 15 people) must register by March 29th through from this link.
