The Fafe Municipal Library promotes the II Scarecrow Exhibition, called ‘Justo, the scarecrow poet’, a The initiative aims to mark the beginning of Spring and also World Poetry Day, celebrated on the 21st, using a symbol of that season – The Scarecrow.
This Tuesday, in a statement, the chamber explains that “with this exhibition the aim is to recover and energize a tradition that has lost expression over time and to raise awareness among the local community about the tradition of executing scarecrows, as well as its importance, promoting creativity and stimulating the creative spirit and involvement around an initiative that calls for the reduction and reuse of waste”.
The president of the Chamber, Antero Barbosa was present at the opening moment of this exhibition, which featured a moment dedicated to the reading of poems by members of NALF, AAPEIF, students from the Secondary School and writer Albino Abreu. The animation was carried out by the CERCIFAF Drum Group and the AAPEIF Cavaquinho Group.
This exhibition is made up of 22 scarecrows distributed throughout the city’s gardens created by the Cultural and Recreational Association of Travassós, Vinhós Parish Council, Cultural and Recreational Association of Fornelos, Escola Básica de Arões S. Romão, Parish Council of Arões Santa Cristina, Escola Básica Padre Joaquim Flores, AAPAEIF, Bolota Campestre, Grupo Coral de Armil, Coral de Antime – Cultural and Recreational Group, CERCIFAF – Training and Employment Center, Association of Pensioners of Arões São Romão, Escola Básica de Quinchães, Escola Básica de Moreira do Rei, Parish of Cepães and Fareja, Kindergarten of Antime, Parish Council of Arões S. Romão, Community Center of Ardegão, Arnozela and Seidões, Basic School of Seidões, Fafe Delegation of the Portuguese Red Cross, Basic School of Fareja and the Passos Parish Council.
The II Scarecrow Exhibition is open until April 21st.
