The Municipality of Azambuja marked, on Thursday, March 21st, the celebrations of World Water Day and World Day of Trees and Forests by holding an event within the scope of Environmental Education, which included the participation of several partners.

The Jardim Urbano Dr. Joaquim António Ramos, in Azambuja, was the stage, during the morning, for a set of awareness-raising activities open to the public, but essentially aimed at pre-school children.

The initiative aimed to provide participants with various fun experiences associated with the themes “forest protection” and “the importance of Water as a scarce and precious resource”. It was intended that, through these experiences, children understand the value of nature and become more aware of environmental problems and motivated to adopt healthy habits.

In the garden area, there was a set of informative spaces and interactive workshops dedicated to the themes of the day. The City Council, through the Environment service, made available the workshops “My teddy goes to the vet” and “Come and see the classified Azambuja tree, the wasps and the pine caterpillar”; through the Sports service, he promoted several recreational games; and the Forest Sappers demonstrated their civil protection work equipment.

The event also included the collaboration and proposals of several partners from the Municipality of Azambuja. The company Águas da Azambuja presented the workshop “We are water”, which is also the name of a book that was being distributed; the consumer protection association DECO promoted the slogan “The water is not yours, it is not mine… it belongs to all of us!”; and the waste collection and treatment company Ecoambiente brought a presentation of its equipment to the event.
