The Burrinha Procession, one of the most anticipated moments of Holy Week in Braga, scheduled for this Wednesday night, was canceled due to bad weather.

“The Organizing Committee of the Burrinha Procession, given the unstable weather conditions, made the difficult decision to cancel the Biblical Procession ‘Vós Sereis o Meu Povo’”, says the organization in a statement sent to O MINHO.

The procession would be made up of 24 paintings and around 800 extras, choral groups and music bands.

“With the current climatic conditions, characterized by high levels of humidity and low temperatures, the Organizing Committee, despite the much work undertaken throughout the year, understands that, firstly, it has to protect and safeguard the integrity of the people who give shine to the Burrinha Procession. Furthermore, with the current weather conditions, it is not possible for us to bring some of the scenic and decorative elements that make up the Procession to the street, otherwise they will deteriorate, also affecting the logistics of the choral groups that animate the Procession”, he says. the statement.

“Following the weather forecasts, we estimate that at the time of departure of the Burrinha Procession it may not even rain, however, in view of the above, the Organizing Committee understands that, despite being a difficult decision and not taken lightly, it is not The conditions are met for the Procession to take to the streets in its maximum splendor. The Procession is not limited to the time of departure, but also to these moments of preparation, which are very involved. Our desire is to return in 2025 with more enthusiasm and with many people on the street to watch this emblematic Procession”, it can be read.
