The Nelson depression is affecting the weather on the mainland this Wednesday.

Lisbon is being seriously affected by the bad weather that is being felt this Wednesday and the images speak for themselves.

A street in the Alcântara area is completely flooded – as you can see in the image gallery above.

On social media, users are already sharing images of the chaos in the Portuguese capital. A video, captured on Rua das Pretas, in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, shows a river in the middle of the city. “What a shame”, reads the caption of the publication.

A World FM contacted the Lisbon Firefighters Regiment and the Lisbon District Relief Operations Command to obtain more information but, so far, without success.

It should be remembered that the Nelson depression, with an impact from Iceland to the Madeira archipelago, is affecting the weather on the mainland.

“Persistent rainfall is expected, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, at least until Easter Sunday. This precipitation will often be in the form of snow in the highest points of Serra da Estrela and the mountains of the extreme North, and in some periods it may drop to levels of around 1,000 meters in altitude”, says the IPMA.

The institute also predicts temperatures with values “without significant change throughout the week”, despite a variation in the expected minimum temperature, which is expected to rise on Wednesday and fall again on the 29th, Friday.
