The University of Coimbra (UC) promotes, in partnership with the Fundação Eng. António de Almeida (FEAA) and the Association of Former Students of Coimbra (AAEC), a Homage to Fernando Aguiar-Branco, distinguished former student and Doctor Honoris Causa of UC, following the celebrations of the centenary of his birth and the celebration of Alumni Day.

The tribute will be held on April 4, 2024, at 6:00 pm, at the Eng. António de Almeida Foundation, with the conference “O Former Student of the University of Coimbra, Fernando Aguiar-Branco” by Rui de Figueiredo Marcos (President of Academia Sino -Lusóphone at UC and Full Professor at the Faculty of Law at UC), as well as with interventions by Jorge Castilho (President of AAEC), Augusto Aguiar-Branco (President of FEAA), and João Nuno Calvão da Silva (Vice-Rector for External Relations and UC Alumni).

This will be followed by a convivial dinner with musical moments by the group Raízes de Coimbra and the Fado Section of the Associação Académica de Coimbra, registrations for which are open until March 28th, by email to [email protected] or call 916 867 216 / 917 554 577.

On this occasion, the “Doctor Fernando Aguiar-Branco Award”, established by the Sino-Lusófona Academy of the UC, with the financial sponsorship of the Eng. António de Almeida Foundation, will also be presented, which is intended to be awarded annually, starting from the academic year 2024/ 2025, studies either in the field of Lusophone Letters or in the scope of Legal Lusofonia, or studies on great figures from the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, carried out by teaching, non-teaching workers and researchers from the University of Coimbra .
