Who are the ministers who will be part of the Montenegro government? Here are some of the names mentioned

-

Prime Minister-designate Luís Montenegro has kept the list of ministers that he will present to the President of the Republic this Thursday in absolute secrecy, however there are already some names that have been appointed to be part of the composition of the new Government.

For now, there is only one name that is already known, that of the chief of staff, who will be Pedro Perestrelo Pinto, current consul general in San Francisco, United States. However, there are several names that have been mentioned in recent days for this future Executive.

There are two names mentioned for the Finance portfolio, and, although it is very likely that this folder will be handed over to Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, currently responsible for the PSD’s macroeconomic scenario, João Valle e Azevedo is also one of the names proposed for what is one of the Government’s most important portfolios.

Regarding Parliamentary Affairs, It is possible that this folder is for the CDS, that there should be one or two ministers in this Government and, therefore, it could being Nuno Magalhães the future Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.

For Deputy Minister or Minister of the Presidency the name of António Leitão Amaro is spoken, vice-president of the PSD who is part of Luís Montenegro’s hard core.

There are other vices who are also talked about to join the Government, This is the case of Miguel Pinto Luz, who could take on the Infrastructure portfolio, and Paulo Rangel for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

These names are just hypotheses that have been gaining strength in recent days. The process has been kept completely secret, since Luís Montenegro wants the President of the Republic to be the first to know who the next ministers will be.

Luís Montenegro presents, this Thursday afternoon, at the Palácio de Belém the composition of its minority Government to the President of the Republic. Next Tuesday, he will take office at the Ajuda National Palace.

This calendar was announced by the president of the PSD himself, after the audience with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in which he was nominated as prime minister, following the early legislative elections on March 10, which gave victory to the Democratic Alliance (PSD, CDS-PP and PPM coalition).
