On the 29th and 30th of March, the final four of the Portuguese women’s futsal cup will be played. Novasemente will have to eliminate SL Benfica to play in the final and try to win this competition for the first time in its history.
Decisive weeks are ahead for the Novasemente team, which has been having a very positive season, in terms of possible titles. Between their presence in the final four of the Portuguese Cup and the start of the knockout phase of the Placard Futsal Women’s League, Anta’s team is already preparing clashes that could turn an exemplary season into something extraordinary.
The first decisive clash will take place tomorrow, March 29th, at 2pm, at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Sines, against SL Benfica, in the semi-final of the Portuguese Cup. The winner of this match will face the winner of the clash between Futsal Feijó and Torreense, in the final of the competition.
Recent history allows us to dream
If, on the one hand, Novasemente’s record against the Reds is not the best in the competition, having lost three finals in direct confrontation, it is also true that the season’s record has smiled on the team led by Ricardo Rodrigues. The team from Espinho is still the only one, at national level, to have defeated the Lisbon team in 2023-2024, eliminating them from the League Cup and imposing the only defeat in the championship.
Regarding this confrontation, Joana Moreira, a player for the club and the national team, reveals that the locker room is aware of the difficulty involved in a duel with SL Benfica, but “the team has already shown that it is possible”. “We have been working, I think our performance in the 2nd round is a good example of this, as we won all the games, and that motivates us even more for the next game. I feel that the dressing room is motivated that they can reach the final and win the Portuguese Cup”, she believes.
